A Plan to Stop Cow Slaughter

A Plan to Stop Cow Slaughter

PLEASE ACCEPT MY HUMBLE  OBEISANCES,

ALL GLORIES TO GURU AND GAURANGA,

ALL GLORIES TO SRIL PRABHUPADA.

SAVE A COW SAVE THE WORLD,This is The name of our project .The aim is to find a solution to stop cow slaughter. Most of the people keep cows for an economic benefit.when the milk yeild stops ,they find difficult to maintain them ,so they are forced to sell it to the market ,from where it goes to the slaughter houses .We aim at putting our effort in a way, that cows do not come to the market .That is to prevent cows from comming to the market .This is not an easy job .We want a lot of man power and money power for this.By the mercy of Guru and krishna we have deviced this project SAVE A COW SAVE THE WORLD with an excellant plan .

First we make 300 feeding members ,then we select 100 beneficiary members from the village ,then train the beneficiary members ,then we give them cows on terms and conditions. We get man power from the beneficiary members .The advantage for them is that they can exchange the cow when it stops yielding milk with a milch cow every time .so they dont have the burden to look after the non milch cow .The non milch cow is returned to the organisation..when this system is implemented in a ward in a village , then we are sure that no cows from this area will go to the market .So the first 2 years we go on increasing the feeding members who will pay an amount monthly to feed the cows ,then we are able to make more beneficiaries. So the cow population increases and we are able to do the same in the next ward aslo.so it starts multplying.Since the beneficiary members are in touch with us daily ,we are able to bring them to krishna consciousness . And finally the result of implementing the project SAVE A COW SAVE THE WORLD is that we form a model village called PRABHUPAD NAGER. PRABHUPAD NAGER will have , a Krishna temple , a Go-sala, a Health centre,a Dairy farm ,Gurukulam,Ashram, Supermarket ,Veterinary hospital,Gobar gas plant,Ox-power generator,100 apartments of 800sqftand 100 of 400sqft.So when all the devotees pray for this , we will be able to build up one PRABHUPAD NAGER IN EACH VILLAGE and thus the whole WORLD IS SAVED .So,. if some one enrolls as a feeding member in this project ,HE IS ACTUALLY A MEMBER WHO SAVES A COW AND THERE BY HE SAVES THE WORLD ALSO .

IF YOU LIKE THIS PROJECT PLEASE CO OPERATE WITH ME TO IMPLEMENT THIS PROJECT AT THE EARLIEST .my mail is vibhooshan@rediffmail.com and our web addresss is www.geocities.com/gorakshyamtrust

THE FIRST THING WHAT I WANT IS BLESSINGS FROM ALL DEVOTEES AND WOULD BE DEVOTEES IN THE FUTURE.

Help answer the question about dairy cows

How are dairy cows made to produce milk?
I'm vegetarian and always buy organic dairy products as I care for their welfare. But I do not understand or know much about the processes in volved to get the cow to produce milk e.g. are they made to have a calf to produce the milk and if so how often are they forced to do this etc.
So am I no better off buying organic then
- is the whole process unnatural and cruel?

like zoe1974 said u should have used sterile saline or chlorhexiderm solution to clean it

    you should have numbed it!!!!!

They become hamburger. There is no retirement home for non producing dairy cows.

there are 6 breed of dairy cattle.
    Holstein(the white and black)
    red Holstein
    Jersey
    Guernsey
    Brown Swiss
    Ayrshire

They are bred to give higher amounts of milk than other cows. They also have different percentages of milk fat which is needed for butter and cheese. All cows give milk and it can be drank and tastes perfectly fine but the other breeds give more milk per cow than other breeds. They are built differently and their meat is of poorer quality and they dont have as much meat. Holsteins however are very meaty but dairy cattle have different structures. Their hip bones stick out which is a good quality for dairy while a bad quality for beef cows.

So THAT’S where a cow keeps its milk.

Shouldn’t use peroxide to clean…. should flush with sterile saline. Peroxide is too hard on tissue and can aggravate…

trying to find a bull that would respond to their overtures of wanting to be bred. Believe it or not they used to let the bulls take care of the breeding.

I understand from my rancher friend that he suggests 10 acres for every head of cattle. This is enough to sustain them year round if broken into quadrants and allow the grazing land to replenish itself each season while not starving the cows. Might need to think about alternative food sources also such as Hay bales when winter comes or if there is a long dry spell.

I believe the fields he plants are just a few rows in each pasture of wheat or oats, he only lets them get about half in height before letting the cattle loose in that field so he has a constant cycle going on. Guess the corn crop would be up to you. How much would you like to harvest? Might look into diseases that plague corn crops, what type pH soil corn likes, natural vs. chemical fertilizers? He taught me how to square-foot garden with only 9X9 garden space of a raised bed compost garden. The results were tremendous! Since its so small makes it easier to get better results, rather than mass quantities.

Guess its all up to you and how much you want to invest in it as well as the equipment it will take to harvest/ milk, upkeep on that equipment and food/ fertilizer.

It is a fairly long process as you will need to collect/package the semen from the young sire and distribute it to a number of farms who agree to utilize this young bull's genetics. Once the heifer calves are born to this sire they are raised and entered into the various milking strings of which all should be in DHIA or DHIR as this is the official record keeper for the information that will be utilized by the USDA to compile the various production records. Once the daughters start proving their ability to produce in relation to herdmates the sire will begin to attain some level of credibility. Bulls that are proven successful and put into the market place are usually fairly old and some have even died before they made their mark in the industry.

It usually helps early on if the dam has good index numbers as the studs are usually scouting the country for the offspring of these cows.

Cows scoring VG or EX are fairly common yet it is a difficult market to have a young sire that will make the big leagues. If you truly believe in your cow and like her disposition, milk/fat/protein production, low SCC's, etc. and would like to enhance her type of genetics in your herd, consider having her flushed and put the embryos in your poorer heifers. If you want the semen, have a business come to collect the young sires semen and then package and freeze this semen. Use the bull sparingly to see what type of offspring is born and how they milk along with their type traits. If you are satisfied with his genetic offering then use the remaining semen. Using a "herd" bull to breed all of your cattle without proving his abilities is money foolish. There are so many proven bulls with tremendous genetic offering that you would be years behind in using an uproven bull. Good luck.

the heffers(female) are keep for breeding and or milking later.
the bulls used to be killed or given away so as not to use up the milk that could be sold. now most dairy's sale them to be hand raised for beef. i have raised two, many years ago myself.

They are put in calf, either by a bull or AI -artificial insemination . this is to avoid cross breeding
They then give birth to a calf and they will continue to produce as long as they are milked, whether it is a calf drinking it or they are milked by machines
Many cows milk all year round- will continue to produce milk for consumption by humans, there are also cows which are "dried off" ie they might milk for about 9-10 months of the year and then the farmer gives then an injectionso they are not made to produce milk.
Not all dairy cows produce milk to be homogenised and pasteurised for the milk you drink from a carton, other cows make milk for cheese and other dairy produce

obviously some cows are kept in high standards, though not all are, one would hope that they would receive good care and attention. Organic here would refer to the feed that the cows are given, (most cows just eat grass and meal)

Some vegans would argue that this process is unnatural and cruel, but this is why we have high standards and in fact it is unfair on the cows to just stop milking them suddenly

and there are strict standards involving the amount of bacteria acceptable in milk, the percentage of buttermilk etc etc

Bottom line: no, i would not stop drinking dairy products, it is not unfair to the cows, females are content creatures for the most part, visit a small dairy farm and you would find this out

They moved them to another pasture area.
Have you ever been on a dairy farm?

They usually have many, many acres of pasture so the cows can roam around and graze.

You can't get good, usable, saleable milk from sick, distressed cows.
They quit producing milk when they are sick or distressed.

I am referring to a real dairy farm NOT a commercial dairy farm.
They are 2 completely different places.

  18. punkinbutt'smama says:

    Yes, cows are fed soy.

Livestock producers like to use corn and soy as a base for their animal feed, because these protein-rich grains fatten up their animals, and because they’re incredibly cheap as a result of the government subsidies. Livestock consumes 47% of the soy and 60% of the corn produced in the US.
    Source:
    http://www.sustainabletable.org/issues/feed/

It is very possible that soy residue could remain in the milk.
If your daughter is unable to drink milk don't stress. As a vegan I can assure you that it is perfectly healthy and easy to avoid milk products :)

    Best of luck!!

EDIT: realised I should back that last sentence up:
The main worry of people unable to drink milk is calcium; however, there are many fantastic plan-based sources of calcium including: blackstrap molasses, calcium-fortified soy milk, calcium-set tofu, black-eyed beans, soybeans, bok choy, broccoli, collard greens, chinese cabbage, kale, mustard greens, and okra. Legumes also contain some calcium.
